A regulated power supply designed for powering LED traffic lights.

The output is set to 12V and does not vary regardless of the load (between 0 and 3.5 Amps).

The power supply is fitted with a two metre long mains lead and the 12V output is available at two pairs of screw terminals.

A manual control switch for use with our 2 aspect 24Vdc traffic lights.  It comes complete with an MP-3494 24Vdc plug pack.

The switch has three positions: centre off, red on, green on.  When the switch is pressed to either the red or green positions, an internal LED illuminator of the corresponding colour comes on to indicate the current selection.

The output is via a 3-way screw terminal block with a common negative, a red switched positive and a green switched positive.  The plug pack is connected by a push-in DC connector at one end of the unit.

Dimensions of the switch box are: 155 x 67 x 55 (inc switch).

Weatherproof (IP67) push button mounted in an IP65 diecast aluminium box with IP65 beeper.

The push button switch is designed to be high impact (20J).

The beeper has a sound output of 92dB(A), but it also has a built-in volume control to reduce the sound output for residential areas etc.  Switches on the back of the beeper allow selection of 26 different tones.  Operating voltage is 9 - 28 Vdc.

Two mounting holes are located outside of the sealed area of the box.

Sometimes, it is desirable to be able to reduce the light output of the LED traffic lights, particularly the 200mm models.

Simply reducing the input voltage is not effective as the internal voltage regulator will compensate for the voltage change. The solution is to use a Pulse Width Modulator (PWM). These are often used as DC motor speed controllers and work by switching the voltage on and off very rapidly, typically around a thousand times per second.

The ratio or duty cycle of 'voltage on' to 'voltage off' time is variable, and as the proportion of 'voltage on' time is reduced, the LEDs become dimmer. Using this method it is possible to dim the LED modules to about one third of their full brightness.

The TF-SDDM2 has 2 inputs, so it can be used to control both LED modules in a two aspect signal and is suitable for 12 - 24Vdc supplies. It is very compact at only 125mm x 30mm x 50mm, so it can be easily fitted inside a 200mm traffic light. It comes complete with input/output cable and connectors.
